Santa’s Magic Potion

By Averie Cooks

Santa’s Magic Potion (aka Eggnog Cocktail) — 🎅🏻🎄Not sure what to mix with eggnog? Baileys, of course! This creamy eggnog cocktail mixes the two to create a holiday drink you’ll love and use up some eggnog in the process!

Creamy Eggnog Cocktail Recipe

After all the stops he has to make and all those presents to deliver, Santa gets thirsty. And so do busy moms trying to wrap a million presents and bake even more cookies.

Juggling all the balls of the holidays is hard work. School recitals, company coming, holiday parties, gift exchanges, and more. Time to take a break, use up the last of your eggnog, and put your feet up for a minute.

The combo of Baileys and eggnog is a winner. Really, Baileys with anything is a winner — especially if you’re sipping on Homemade Baileys Irish Cream. Smooth, creamy, just sweet enough, and it hits the spot.

I like to sprinkle my eggnog cocktail with a pinch of nutmeg and cinnamon for added flavor.

A perfect after-dinner drink. Or after-baking drink. Or after-present wrapping drink.

What’s in This Eggnog Cocktail?

If you’ve never quite been sure what alcohol goes in eggnog, here’s your answer. To make this eggnog alcoholic drink, you’ll need:

  • Eggnog
  • Baileys
  • Cinnamon
  • Nutmeg
  • Ice cubes (optional)

Really, that’s all you need to make this Baileys drink recipe!

Note: Scroll down to the recipe card section of the post for the ingredients with amounts included and for more complete directions.

How to Make an Eggnog Cocktail

  1. To make this eggnog drink recipe, combine 4 parts eggnog with 2 to 4 parts Baileys (the strength of this Baileys cocktail is up to you).
  2. Add in ice, if desired, then stir to combine.
  3. Sprinkle your festive eggnog cocktail with cinnamon and nutmeg and serve immediately.

Can I Make This as a Batch Drink?

I don’t see why not! This recipe is super flexible since there aren’t precise measurements, so scale it up as desired. You can set the cinnamon and nutmeg to the side and let guests garnish their eggnog cocktails themselves.

Can I Add Other Spices to This Eggnog Cocktail?

Yes, you’re welcome to garnish your drink with any warming spices you prefer. Pumpkin pie spice, cloves, and ginger would all be delicious garnishes.

Tips for Making Eggnog Cocktails

I think this goes without saying, but make sure to buy real Baileys and not the off-brand stuff for this eggnog cocktail. Since this Baileys drink recipe has just two ingredients, you want to buy the best quality you can.

Same logic applies when buying your eggnog. Don’t get the cheapest stuff — read through the ingredients list and buy an eggnog that you know will be good. Even though you’ll be mixing it with Baileys, you still want the eggnog to be delicious on its own.

Feel free to add more or less Baileys to this eggnog cocktail to suit your own tastes. Everyone has different preferences when it comes to cocktails, so taste a bit as you go until you get it just right.
